Firefighters during their battle with Maria Fire were reflecting on 2 options: land their water-dropping helicopters or be on the verge of collision with unauthorised unmanned aerial vehicleы. The first drone was detected at approximately 3:19 a.m and the second at 4:05 a.m. Air operations were suspended for about 45 minutes.

The fact that drone interfered into the aerial firefighting gives reason for worries. When such gadgets are used illegaly, they can cause a significant damage.

According to the statement made by National Interagency Fire aerial firefighting operations were stopped nine times during this year because of suspicious drone activity.
