Plane hit by the drone
A light plane has been damaged after collision with a drone near Adeleide Parafield Airport in Australia, in July 2017. The aircraft was landing when it was struck by an object and sustained minor damage to the right wing. The initial search of the ground under the flight path has not turned up anything. It was the first collision caused by the drone in Australia.
Under Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations, drones are banned from flying within 5.5 km of the controlled aerodrome and cannot be flown at night. Fines for the improper use of the drone can range from $900 to $9000.
