According to ABC News and CNN, the drone that crashed in the immediate vicinity of a substation located in Pennsylvania was likely used to damage electrical equipment. The FBI, Department of Homeland Security and the National Counterterrorism Center in a statement stressed that the drone was deployed to “target energy infrastructure” by creating “short circuits in order to cause damage to transformers or distribution lines.” A search for the perpetrators is underway.
