A California man is on the verge of getting $20,000 fine for not taking seriously FAA’s regulations on the use of drones. His unmanned aerial vehicle was detected flying over the Las Vegas strip. Consequently the device landed in close vicinity to an active runway of McCarran International Airport.

Airport staff detected the aircraft and after continuing investigation carried out by the Federal Aviation Administration Reuben Burciaga was identified as drone’s operator.

In April 2019, the FAA directed a letter containing a list of violations and fine of $14,700 to him. But Burciaga didn’t take seriously all FAA’s letters and missed a period for appealing. As a result, the amount of the fine was increased to $20,000.

The drone’s operator confesses his guilt but at at the same time thinks that the amount of money he will be obliged to pay is exaggerated.
