During a landing at Gatwick Airport, pilots of the Airbus A320 managed to avoid a collision with a drone. According to the information provided in the daily newspaper Metro, there were 186 passengers on board.
The pilot turned right after the detection of device. Thanks to this maneuver, the aircraft managed to move away from the unmanned aerial vehicle by 30 m. According to the representative of the UK Airprox Board, the unmanned aerial vehicle exceeded the threshold of permissible flight altitude (120 m) in a controlled airspace.
In the recent years, the number of dangerous incidents involving drones in the UK has increased. In 2018, 125 such cases were recorded. In 2019, 55 drone incidents were registered.
