In accordance with a new report, a mid-air crash was avoided after an illegal drone flew within 16ft of a commercial easyJet flight developing a speed of 300mph. The easyJet Airbus A320 was at an altitude of 5,000ft, having taken off from Gatwick Airport, when the pilots detected the object being operated in the immediate vicinity from aircraft.  Officials attributed incident to category A – the highest level of five, implying that the risk of collision was strong.  UK Airprox Board emphasized in the report that initially the pilot thought the object was a bird before stating that it was a drone being operated without permission. When it comes to the UK, the maximum legal height for drone operation is 400ft.
