Benjamin Briere, 35, was detained in Iran last year. Benjamin illegally operated a drone in close vicinity to the Iranian-Turkmen border. Iranian prosecutors charged him with espionage, for which the death penalty is envisaged if the court admits his guilt. Mr Briere was on vacation in Iran.

Iranian prosecutors also charged Mr. Brier with “propaganda”, which is punichable by one year in prison. A court will undertake decision regarding this issue.
