In August 2018, the unmanned aircraft was spotted flying above the prison grounds for roughly 15 minutes. Prison staff alerted the police about the machine and then followed the flying device, leading them back to its operator.

The person was quizzed by the authorities and an investigation has been launched into the drone activity. It is understood the material being recorded was for personal use and the drone was not being used to attempt to smuggle anything into the prison.
