A drastic increase in the drone operation raised security concerns for oil and gas companies. Operator companies on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) recently have informed about illegal drone operations in the immediate vicinity of offshore installations. The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority asked companies from the oil sector and vessel owners to be especially careful because of unauthorised drone appearance near oil and gas installations. Last month, the biggest Norvegian oil company Equinor informed that suspicious UAVs appeared near some of its platforms.
