Man charged for flying drone at NFL Games
In November 2017, a man used drone to drop anti-media leaflets at the audience at NFL games in San Francisco. Tracy Michael Mapes, sent his drone over stadium during the game between San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. At the very same day, he was accused of operating the drone over Oakland Coliseum during another sport event.
The leaflets included the content about freedom of speech and corruption of television. The paper got mostly blew out of the stadium and didn’t disrupt the game. Surveillance cameras helped with tracking down the operator by identification of his license plate.
Mapes was charged in May 2018 with violating national defense airspace regulation and he can face up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine if convicted.
