In accordance with the amendments to the drone law which the Government of Japan is going to adopt, the use of UAVs weighing 100 grams or more will be regulated at the state level. Moreover, a drone operator will need to obtain permission to operate legally UAV at an altitude of over 150 meters. The use of UAVs in the close vicinity of airports and during public events will also be prohibited. In turn, operators using UAVs to smuggle prohibited items will be prosecuted by law.
