In November 2017, six people including children were injured when a drone weighing 4 kilos was distributing candy at the event in Ogaki, in Japan. The unmanned aircraft suddenly crashed into the crowd. Those hit by the device ranged in age from 5 to 48. Most injuries were minor such as scratches to forehead and shoulders.

The drone was scattering sweets as a part of an event to showcase robotic technologies, which was organized by a local tourism association. The pilot received a permit from the transport ministry to operate a drone at the event.
