As Utah firefighters prepare themselves for a new fire season, there is a necessity to counter threats posed by suspicious UAVs. In accordance with the state law, the use of drones in close vicinity to wildfires is prohinited. At the same time, Utah Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands regularly reports on the appearance of suspicious drones in the immediate vicinity of fires. Last year, two operators were accused of violation of rules regarding the use of drones. In case when drone crashes into a firefighting plane, it is considered as criminal offense. At the same time, the law provides for serious fines for unauthorized use of UAVs.
