The lives of many Iraqi Kurds living in northern Iraq are threatened by relentless attacks carried out by Iranian and Turkish UAVs.

According to a statement made by the mayor of Qandil, Mohammad Hassan, hostile unmanned aerial vehicles can be seen in Iraqi airspace every day. The Kurdistan Workers Party uses the Kandil mountain range as its military base. Every inhabitant of Qandil can spot the drones very easily.

The governments of Turkey and Iran treat the Kurds as criminals and regularly launch attacks against their bases located in Iraq. Since 2018, both states have deployed UAVs to carry out quick and effective attacks on northern Iraq.
