According to sources close to the Japanese government, the country’s defense ministry is seriously considering the possibility of using highly efficient lasers which can be easily installed on vehicles to combat hostile drones. To implement the ambitious plans, the authorities allocated about $ 27 million from the budget for 2021 for research and future development of anti-drone solutions.

For the record, Japan has been developing anti-drone lasers since 2018. This year, the country’s defense department hopes to demonstrate the effectiveness of its powerful lasers, the size of which allows to mount them on vehicles.
