In May 2018, in the Verzasca Valley in Switzerland, a helicopter collided with a drone. Verzasca dam is a very popular place for bungee jumpers. The collision occurred at around 1,000 metres above sea level. After the incident, the helicopter was able to return to the base in Locarno without prejudice.

The investigation showed that a propeller wing of the helicopter showed traces of a collision with a hard object. Police were able to identify the drone operator, he is reported to the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (Bazl).

However, the drone should not appear in that zone because of its proximity to the Locarno-Magadino aerodrome. According to the Bazl, drones weighting less than 30 kilograms can be operated without authorization, only in the certain areas. However, the pilot must have direct eye contact with his aircraft.
