In January 2019, a family living in Reykjavik, Iceland, was surprised to see an unmanned aircraft equipped with a camera operated outside their living room. They said it was flying about 10 cm in front of their window.

Samuel Drengsson decided to go on the balcony and throw snow at the device. He also used a cardboard to knock the drone to the ground.

The operator was found at the parking lot and the family decided to call the police. The owner said that he just got the machine and his intentions were not to watch and spy on his neighbors. The police came and took the owner’s statement. He could not give a good reason on why he did what he did, but denied having recorded the family.

The police said that there are many incidents of unwelcome drones reported and they informed the public to read laws on drone flights and privacy.
